Today I am sitting in my house in Utah, and I thought I'd drop a line or two about our upcoming move to Nashville, Tennessee! I am originally from Laurel, Mississippi and have been in Utah since 2014. I am so happy to be going closer to home! I can't wait to smell the rain and feel the humidity curl my hair and hydrate my skin! I might just have to sit outside and bask in it for a few days when I get there! I am so ready for pot lucks and southern hospitality! It's been interesting here in Utah. It sure is different than the south. I will always be a southern girl through and through, no matter what. I will miss the pretty mountain views but not the snow! I hope to be able to write more on my blog when I get settled into my new home, and I can't wait to try all of the new food there, like hot chicken! I can't wait to try to recreate the food I find to make it healthier and hopefully come up with some awesome new recipes for my family and you! I am also looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends who are very close by! You know who you are! :D Another thing I've been longing for is live music! I am so happy to be going to a place that is just saturated in music. Music is one of the best things on earth to me, besides food, family, friends, and animals. I can't wait to have sweet tea on every corner and hear the southern drawl that just warms my heart. I'll also be so close to my hometown of Laurel, Ms. There's a new show called Home Town on HGTV about a couple named Ben and Erin Napier who re-do old homes in the area. I love to visit Laurel Mercantile when I go home. It's full of cool merchandise and all things Laurel! It's so nice to bring things back home to put in my house. It makes me a little less home sick. I am so proud of my little hometown. It's growing so much! My grandmother went to R.H. Watkins back in her hay-day! She was a cheerleader for the Laurel Tornadoes! She would take me downtown and tell me stories all about the buildings on Main Street. I was too young to really absorb everything she was saying, but now I wish I had written it all down. She used to take me to PDI's for a burger and to Miss June's dress shop every time I had a pageant to get ready for. I did high school plays at the Arabian Theater under the direction of the wonderful Cynthia Welborn! My grandmother, Mamaw, raised my brother and I after our mother and step-father passed away. She and my grandfather were amazing people. There's a Laurel license plate that they sell at Laurel Mercantile that was reprinted from one at my Papaw's(grandfather's) store. I got to tell him about that before he passed away. They told me at Laurel Mercantile that people were putting those on their cars all over the country. He got a kick out of that! I told him that I guessed that meant he was kind of famous! He giggled. He had the best giggle. I miss it everyday. Laurel will always be my hometown, but I'm really hoping Nashville(really on the outskirts ;) of Nashville) becomes home, too. I look forward to going back to my roots. I hope to have enough time to come back and share my journeys and experiences here on my blog. Until then, thanks for your time! Please take a minute to visit my facebook and instagram pages, like and follow! MMM!
